Spider Pest Control in Huntsville, Alabama
Many people have a fear of spiders, or arachnophobia. Spiders have eight legs, six or eight eyes, and two body segments. Some people have a small fear, while others have developed a phobia of spiders which can put them into hysteria. While feared, spiders are common, and even an important part of the ecosystem. Everyone has probably seen several different types of spiders in their lifetime, but you can call a pest control company to minimize the problem or get rid of it all together.
Hiding Places
Spiders like dark corners, cracks and crevices around your home. Probably places that you would never think to look, or would never spot them unless you see their web. Most commonly you see a spider web before you see the spider and that’s because they are mostly timid creatures who don’t like to be bothered. If you hire a pest control company, they have the experience and knowledge of where to look and how to attack these spiders in their hiding places.
Fast Breeders
A female spider lays multiple eggs at once. So if you spot one spider, it is likely there are more lurking around. The sooner you begin servicing for spider control the less they will be able to reproduce. Ideally new homes should begin pest control service for spiders either during construction or shortly after construction is finished. If you believe that you might have a spider problem or infestation, hire a professional pest control company such as Scout Pest Control to come in and handle the job for you. It will allow you a lot more peace of mind and less stress.
Poisonous Spiders in North Alabama
While most spiders in North Alabama are venomous, there are only two medically significant spiders in this area. The two types of dangerous spiders are the Black Widow and Brown Recluse. A third type that is beginning to infest our area is called a Brown Widow. For more information, check out our blog post on Dangerous Spiders and how to identify them.
Black Widow
Male black widows are less aggressive and much less venomous than female black widows because of their smaller size. If there is a black widow nest in or around your home, you should contact a pest control company immediately to avoid any bites. If you wander into their nest, they are much more likely to bite. Their neurotoxic venom can cause a multitude of health issues in adults, such as fevers, shakes and even death in elders and children.
Brown Recluse
You can spot a brown recluse by its yellowish-brown color. A brown recluse bite can vary in severity. It can cause a large open lesion, or little to no reaction at all. However, if you are bitten by a brown recluse or black widow spider, it is important to seek medical attention immediately even if you see no reaction at first.
